As a concerned constituent, I urge you address the emergency medical care crisis in our nation by holding hearings and passing the Access to Emergency Medical Services Act. I want to make certain that lifesaving emergency medical care will be there when I need it.

I’ve seen in the news, the number of people seeking emergency medical care is rising, in part because those who are losing their jobs are also losing their health insurance. Some reports indicate that patients are waiting longer and longer to be seen and treated in the emergency room – even those with life-threatening conditions such as a heart attack. What if someone in my family has an emergency? I am very concerned about health care in this country and access to emergency medical care is a part of that.

It is imperative that Congress and the Obama administration address the escalating crisis in our nation's ERs. Congress cannot ignore the crisis anymore and there is action you can take today to help your constituents. More than 70 members of Congress have already signed on as co-sponsors of the Access to Emergency Medical Services Act.

If you haven’t done so already, I urge you to join your colleagues in ensuring lifesaving emergency medical is be available when and where we need it.
